- Josefa, her husband Agapito and their children live in Timor-Leste. Before joining her savings group, she was not saving money.
- Josefa and Agapito were connected with Oxfam partner Kdadalak Sulimutuk Institute, which is working to tackle the economic and gender inequality women can face in their communities.
- Through savings groups, Josefa has been able to hit her savings goals and purchase some livestock, and Agapito has learnt about gender equality and the importance of contributing at home.
[The savings group] is good for us because our money is kept there every week … I think this is good because the money is saved for six months, or a year, and we can use it later for something or the household.
