Our supporters

Supporters who donate funds, time or gifts in-kind are the lifeblood of our work.

Donors and activists

Our donors come from all Australian states and territories and believe in tackling inequality to address the root causes of poverty.

Our activists organise and participate in campaign events, attend forums, sign petitions and pledges and write letters, postcards and emails to governments, parliamentarians and large corporations to support our campaigns on issues such as First Peoples justice, climate change, workers’ rights and foreign aid.

Volunteers

Volunteers contribute to many areas of our organisation — in our offices, at events, and in the community. Volunteers help raise funds, campaign for change, provide administrative support, assist at events and offer their skills, time, and experience to help us carry out our work.

Business partnerships

Business partners also support our work in a variety of ways, such as matching staff donations, a staff volunteer program, providing pro bono services or having a workplace giving program.

We see this form of giving as an excellent vehicle companies can use to engage their employees in community causes. When the company matches employee gifts, the company is able to demonstrate its commitment to the causes that are important to its employees.

Oxfam supports companies to deliver payroll giving programs by providing periodic communications to employees on the outcomes of our work, hosting charity champion workshops to enable ideas-sharing between companies and providing program speakers. We find that a positive relationship with companies through payroll giving often leads to broader and deeper mutually beneficial partnerships.

Groups

Oxfam Australia groups are made up of supporters who meet to stage events, raise funds, support campaigns and promote our work.

Oxfam groups organise concerts, book fairs, discussion forums, fair trade stalls and independent Oxfam shops, raising hundreds and thousands for our work.

Supporting our supporters

We’re committed to listening to our supporters, respecting their rights and reporting back to them about our work.

Two core principles guide the way we form relationships with our supporters: building trust and offering choice.

Feedback and complaints will be directed to the relevant department for consideration and resolution. We will be reviewing and updating our feedback and complaints handling processes over the coming year as part of our continuous improvement program.

Complaints, compliments and feedback are recorded against supporter records — when personal details are provided — and reported to our Board quarterly.
